This Renaissance Christian masterpiece was created in about 1660, the work of Mattia Preti. It depicts the moment which Saint Sebastian received the Beatrific Vision just prior to his expiration. He was killed during the Diocletian Persecution of the Christian Church in the late second century. The artist died in 1699 La Valleta, Italy when he was eight-six years old. This oil on canvas is now displayed in the Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte in Naples, Italy.
