Man with Dog by Francis Bacon, 1953

A reproduction of “Man with Dog” of 1953 by Francis Bacon.  This is one of BAcon’s bold and austere paintings which typifies the artist’s mature career after 1944.  He painted this work in London after his return from his trip to South Africa and Egypt in which Bacon was deeply impressed by the supremacy of Ancient Egyptian art.  Bacon gradually became better known and his fortunes improved as well.  He died of a heart attack while visiting Spain on April 28, 1992.
