Wet Meadow by Fedor Vasilyev, 1872
Landscape / Paintings (Reproductions) / Russian - 1 year ago - troycapc
This is a reproduction of “Wet Meadow” by Fedor Vasilyev of 1872. This wonderful landscape shows a masterful contrast between the silent meadow with its tiny lake and the swirling clouds of a sky in powerful transition. Vasilyev was born in Gatchina, south of St. Petersburg, and was a self-taught painter. He contracted tuberculosis in 1871 and moved to Yalta in the Crimea in an attempt to recover his health. He died there in 1873. This masterpiece is in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.

Bower Meadow by Dante Gabriel Rosetti
British / Inspirational prints / Paintings (Reproductions) / Pre-Raphaelite - 1 year ago - troycapc
A reproduction of a work by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, “Bower Meadow” of 1872. This Pre-Raphaelite masterpiece is haunting and seductive. The models in the foreground are Maria Spartali Stillman on the left and Alexa Wilding on the right. The painting has a surrealistic quality with dancing background figures contrasted with musical figures in the foreground at rest. The painting is now displayed in the Manchester City Art Galleries in England.
